frequently asked questions

Where do the green team volunteers come from?

Encounter Youth is a faith based organisation whose staff members come from Christian communities from all over South Australia. It's volunteer community, The Green Team, are the same. In 2010, Schoolies Operation brought together over 30 teams from a variety of Christian denominations from the Barossa to Victor Harbor, and everywhere inbetween.

The Green Team provides one of the only opportunities where a varied and unified community of believers come together to express the love of God in one of the best ways - by loving and serving others. The Green Team exists to give Christians an opportunity to not just talk about loving others, but to get out there and do it for real.

What qualifications must a Green Team volunteer have?

Every volunteer must supply a current National Police Certificate (Police check) and supply a referee when they register. These referee's are contacted to qualify their suitability for their role in the Green Team. Other certificates such as Senior First Aid and Mandatory Reporting are highly valued and encouraged but are not compulsory - yet. Each volunteer must also agree to and abide by a Code of Conduct when they register. If you would like a copy of the Code of Conduct please contact jessica@encounteryouth.com.au.

Each volunteer receives training in basic first aid, ohs&w, sharing their faith and positive crowd engagement.

What is the police check process for Volunteers in 2011?

All Green Team volunteers are required to undergo a Police Records Check every two years. If you already have a National Police Check (NPC) that was issued in 2010 or 2011 please post a copy to 23 Valmai Ave Kings Park SA 5034.

If you don't already have a National Police Check then please follow the process below:

1. Go to the website and download a free NPC form.
2. Fill in the form and take it to your local police station with 100 points of ID to prove your identity.
3. Get the police officer to stamp the form and give it back to you. Do not pay for the police check.
4. Bring all the paperwork into the Encounter Youth office. They will complete the process and send it off for you.
5. You will receive the finished police check in the mail, bring it ito the EY office who will take a copy for their files.

Remember to get onto this process ASAP as police check forms can take up to 6 weeks to process and without a NPC you cannot be on the Green Team this year!
